A night of community,
a night of healing
This month, we recognized the need for AAPI folks to come together, take a breath, and heal amidst the trauma our communities have endured during the federal occupation. We have faced a surge of violence and uncertainty during this time because an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. Future of Us acknowledges that pain and terror. We recognize the need to share in a safe space to talk about the threats on our community and the toll it's taking on our well-being.
In response, Future of Us hosted on Feb. 12: A Collective Breath: A Night of AAPI Healing as a open space for members of the Asian community to show up exactly as they are. Our event honored feelings and invited people to share their experiences, and included a breathwork meditation session from Ka Zoua Xiong, a healer at Soul Ya Yoga Studios. Through guided exercises of visualization and deep breathing, participants took a pause and grounded themselves in the moment we're living through alongside each other.
We want to extend our gratitude to Ka Zoua Xiong and to everyone who came and who made this event possible! Be on the lookout for more community spaces from us in the near future!
“Hosting this event was deeply inspiring and reminded me how nurturing it is to be in community with each other. As an attendee voiced during event: ‘Rest is resistance’, and I couldn’t agree more.”
A Collective Breath
A night of AAPI Healing
Asian Americans in Minnesota have suffered untold harm from federal agents occupying our state. We have faced a surge of violence, harm and uncertainty during this time because an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us. Future of Us acknowledges that pain and terror. We recognize the need to share in a safe space to talk about the threats facing our community and the toll it's taking on our health and well-being. In response, Future of Us is offering a night for Asian community members to be together, to share our stories, and have a moment for healing.
Please join us for A Collective Breath: A Night of AAPI Healing on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Our free event will offer meditation and breathwork facilitated by Ka Zoua Xiong, a healer at Soul Ya Yoga studios, and dinner catered by Leela Thai. We invite you to come exactly as you are. The event is offered for people 18 and older and will be limited to 25 participants. RSVP is required and registration will close when capacity has been reached. We will have constitutional observers on site to navigate safety concerns. The event will be located in St. Paul and the address will be provided upon registration.
We invite you to come exactly as you are and we look forward to connecting with you!
